The God to whom you pray is indeed present. The God to whom you pray is a God not only of presence but a kind of responsiveness. The effect of that presence is the responsiveness that is so often asked for.

As we have frequently said, one does not need to ask God in order for God to react, but merely to become open so that God’s presence may be given evidence in your lives. When you pray for peace, when you pray for health, when you pray for compassion and love, when you pray for understanding, when you pray for anything, you are really wishing to be open to receive what it is you pray for. Prayer is about openness. It is not specifically about action. Prayer is not passive, but the point of prayer is never for the purpose of engaging activity where there is currently none or not enough. God does not wait to be asked in order to respond. God is, and therefore the response is. That peace, that love, that compassion—all that you pray for—already is. They exist. They are a kind of energy that belongs to what God is.

We say God creates. It may be helpful to think that God enables, for if you conceive of reality as being something created, that implies that whatever was created did not exist until its creation. Since God is a force, is an energy that has no beginning, has always been, and since all that exists is a part of what God is, then all that exists has always existed. What God does is empower or enable all that exists to interact with all else.

It is clear that human beings, as you know them, have not existed forever, but human beings are an assembly of sorts of matter that have existed. Human life is merely one form that contains all that has existed. You look up into the heavens and see the stars, and it may be difficult to fully grasp, but each of you contains in part what belongs to the heavens. There is nothing that is a part of your existence that has not existed. Human life is one kind of energy, but the center of that energy, the source of that energy is God.

Energy transforms. There is birth, growth, death, rebirth, growth, death, rebirth. There is a transformation, a change in the character of the energy, but the energy is still there. We, your guides, are merely a different manifestation, a different expression of the energy that you are, and as all of this energy is a part of what God is, the presence of God enables the transformation, a remixing, of components that belong to All That Is.

Prior to human life, the energy that is combined in human form already existed, already had a kind of life, a kind of response to what is surrounding it. The energy that is each of you will continue to be transformed. You evolve, you change, you are transformed, but you are still in some significant way you.

The question was asked about reincarnation. Reincarnation is merely a change in the energies that exist. It is not the beginning of new energy. It is not the death of old energy. It is merely a recombination, and that recombination is enabled by the Spirit Center that is God, for that Spirit Center is the center of All That Is. It is not fundamentally different.

If you hold a rock in your hands, there is a surface to the rock, and that surface may change in appearance. It may change according to the light to which it is exposed. It may change because of heat applied to it, but that surface is essentially no different than the core, the center. It is merely a surface.

Each of you in your own fashion is a surface to the core, the Spirit Center, that you refer to as God. There is no difference. You may appear different from the core. You may be a different temperature. You may be a different color because of the light that surrounds you, but you still belong to the core. You are an extension of the core. You are a kind of transformation from the core, yet you still belong to it. Human life is filled with extensions. Those who cross your own paths are merely other extensions of the core that unites all of you together.

So often we urge you not to be judgmental. We urge you to love unconditionally. We urge you to be accepting of all. The reason for that is that on the surface of the rock, although the lights displayed on the rock from different directions may make the rock look different, they are still the rock. They are still the same component as what is at the very core.

When you consider reincarnation, you are considering another light, another extension, of the basic core that is God. If you experience life in a completely different form of energy than you currently imagine, that is just a different color of the same essence, the same Spirit Center.

Yes, there is reincarnation. Yes, human life often is experienced in multiple ways, but those different experiences are nevertheless part of that core. Your neighbor, your friend, your colleague, the total stranger you see, those that you hear of, are merely located on the same rock but illuminated with different light. You are all the same. You are the same whether you view life in human form or whether you view life as a combination of animate and inanimate forms. You are all the same whether you consider life of the spirit or life of the body. You are the same whether you consider your own experience of human life or a very different experience in reincarnation.

We can say with absolute authority that each of you has experienced human life prior to this life. Those lives are very different from what you currently see with your senses, but your souls are the same. Your particle of the Spirit Center retains its identity but changes its light, changes its character. The entity of your individual souls remains consistent until you become only love, at which point your energy is completely blended with the Spirit Center.

In the transformations that occur, the surface of the rock returns to the core. The rock is in motion. The rock is never stable. It is always in the process of becoming. If we look at that rock, and we realize that parts of it may chip away, that chip still is part of the same component that was the center of that rock, and the center of that rock is still part of what was the center of a larger rock. All those rocks, all those stones, all those chips, the pebbles, the sands, they all have truly the same core, the same center, and that center is part of all that is God. That ultimate center was never created. It was only enabled, given strength to be expressed in many varied lights.

So it is with your human lives. They are an expression of a far deeper life, a far deeper reality, and as you pray, you are connecting to that center reality, the totality of God. You are not initiating God’s action but rather affirming your connection to God. You are becoming receptive to all that God is. So it is important to pray for your strength to be receptive, for your strength to be vulnerable, for your strength to listen and not necessarily speak. You are praying for your strength to receive and not to give, for in receiving you truly are giving.

When you are receptive to God’s light, then you receive that light, and that light has its own form of energy, and the natural state of that energy is to expand outward. The mere reality of being light means that you therefore illuminate, and the illumination that you provide is the giving. Spend less effort praying to be giving. Rather, spend more effort on being open to receive, for giving is the natural state for all that you receive.

There is a circle, in effect. It is a circle of life, of different forms of life that all belong to the center. There is a circle of giving that actually is the outcome of receiving. You give because you receive. You don’t receive and then decide you can give. The gift of love you present to another is an expression of the love that you acknowledge having received. We often say that you must first be loved before you can be loving, but it is important for you to recognize that being loving is a natural state of the love you have received. That circle is unbroken. The circle of life—past life, future life, the stars, the human cells—all are essentially a single unit, and that unit is God.

Don’t think of God as someone in a white robe welcoming you. Think of God as a central energy of pure love, of unimaginable peace, of extraordinary comfort. Think of God as all you would wish to become, for those wishes are threads of recognition of your connection to the Spirit Center.

Rejoice in your belonging! Rejoice in the process of living! Rejoice in the reality of transformation! Rejoice in your awareness of growing commitment to becoming the love that actually resides within you as your own core!
