• The energy of spirit

God surrounds you with love and light as we have spoken of. Indeed, God not only surrounds you with life and light, God is life and light.

We spoke to you about light as a multifaceted energy source, an energy presence that is constant. With our discussion of light, it seems appropriate to further that with some additional considerations regarding the character of energy, the energy of spirit.

You ask about the experiences we have as we exist in purely spirit-form. We exist as a kind of energy, an energy that gives, loves, and expands. As you know, light is energy. That umbrella of light becomes in its expansion an all-embracing energy. Darkness does not expand, for it does not increase in energy. The darkness that is, simply is. The darkness that we speak of is a kind of vacuum, a receptacle that waits to be filled. The energy of light fills the lack of energy that is darkness.

Our experience as your guides is one of observing our own lights expand. We see our energy expand. It is the spirit light of which we have spoken that expands, and in that expansion, we become more aware of the strength and potential of light.

The life we experience is a life of growth. You might say it is a life of learning, for what is learning if it is not growth? What is growth if it is not fueled by energy? It is the energy of spirit that fuels the growth of spirit, that fuels the growth of life. Our lives are lives of transformation.

We recognize one another by the lights that emanate from each spirit. These lights are a form of energy. Just as the personalities of two human beings are never identical, the energy of two spirits is never identical. We therefore are identified by, and we identify one another by, the particular energy that fuels who we are.

As we evolve in spirit energy, we evolve in our ability to see with the heart. We know spirits, souls, that are struggling to grow. We know spirits or souls who experience such growth with great depth, with great understanding and great humility. Those among us who are strong never demonstrate that strength in any form of energy beyond simply the loving embrace of light. We embrace one another with energy. We seek one another through energy. We educate one another through our energy of spirit.

The life of spirit is never static. Therefore, the life of your own spirit is never static. The life of all human beings is never static, and the same is true for animals, plants, and inanimate objects. All experience continual change.

The molecules of water change, as does the smallest component of the biggest rocks and a grain of sand in the tallest mountain. Energy, therefore, is dynamic. It grows, and its growth is only through expansion. The energy of spirit never contracts.

You know of human beings whose life direction may seem to collapse, to disintegrate, or descend into actions that create great suffering, but those are merely human traits that are being expressed. That is not the direction of spirit. When a baby is born, there are certain personalities that soon become evident, and as that individual continues to grow, one sees behavior that benefits and behavior that destroys. Those are only behaviors. They are not the prescribed direction of spirit. Again, energy expands, and therefore the core that comprises each of you—the soul, the spirit center, call it as you wish—that core is always moving forward, expanding, illuminating. The energy is always directed outward.

When you meet a stranger, as was just observed [someone knocked on the door], you can encounter another with an energy of love. The energy that you feel is not one of rejection but understanding. The practice of understanding is in itself an expansion of energy. It is one form of that expansion. A baby grows—that is an expansion. An adult life is terminated—there is an expansion. There is life after life because energy increases, expands, and grows. The form of that energy becomes changed. You may speak of transition in life. Transition never implies ending. It implies changing. Because it is the natural behavior of all energy to expand in some form, then all transitions are an expansion. Expansions are always changes for the good, changes for what is beneficial. You expand because that is the normal tendency of energy.

You may look at the energy of light and say in time, the light becomes dimmer, but that only means that one form of the energy, the energy that is visible becomes dimmer. But there are other components of that energy that continue to fill the darkness. Light is one component, the visible light that you see. There are so many other elements to light of which you are unaware, and yet they continue to move outward.

Friendships you experience can go through many stages. They can be casual to begin with, very personal at a later stage, and yet again more casual at the end. All that you can say is the friendship that you see goes through a change of intensity, but the energy that belongs to that friendship can be expanding into other reaches of awareness. You are drawn to others because of a similar vibration of energy. Friendships are acknowledged because of this similarity, the symbiosis, this fitting together personally.

Your engagement in life around you is all about the exchange of energy. As you know, the mere observation of something has an impact on what is being observed. You cannot measure it easily. You cannot easily grasp it in terms of logic, and yet merely the observing has an energy. You have probably experienced moments when you have looked at someone at a distance for a few moments, and they turn and look at you. You are not in their field of vision, but you were part of the energizing vibration that connects your spirit center to another. Yes, even looking at an individual has an impact. Your thoughts have an enormous impact. That impact may be psychological or physiological, but thoughts are forms of this energy of which we speak.

If you seek a positive influence in life around you, that influence will be brought into reality when it is framed with positive thoughts and emotions. When you seek a change that is positive, and yet you are dominated by a lack of spirit energy at that moment, the positive energy you seek will not be noticed. For you to see clearly the benefits of your thoughts, you must be, as one could say, on the same wavelength.

If two individuals engage in an argument and neither speaks a common language, you may understand that there is a difference of emotion, but you will not know why. You will not know what those differences are. You will not see what causes those differences, just merely that there is a conflict.

You may wish to set another on a better course of life, but that can only be achieved when there is no judgment but only support, for judgment is the lack of the energy of spirit. It is a reaching out, in a sense, without a voice. Your response to those around you is most beneficial to all when your response is always through the energy of love, through the energy of a commitment to understand not what is said but what is meant.

You have heard it said that you create your own reality. There is great truth in that. If you seek peace, you can only find it when you are peaceful—full of peace. When you ask for forgiveness, you only can sense that forgiveness when you forgive yourself. Asking forgiveness and not being in a place of forgiveness, you can feel that such forgiveness that is offered is undeserved and therefore empty. Forgiving yourself means that you are open to forgiveness that is already present, and you are allowing that energy to fill that void, that emptiness that we speak of.

You are a vessel containing energy. You are a vessel that can offer love and compassion. In your own way, you can offer what is true life, and that is the energy of light. Life is the absorbing of energy and the giving of energy. It is taking in the light and reflecting the light. It is accepting the help of others, and it is the giving of help to others. That is an exchange of light. That is an exchange of the energies of spirit.

When you pray for peace, be filled with peace as you pray. When you pray for direction, be filled with a receptivity to the direction that is there. When you pray for compassion, realize that com-passion is a passion that is directed in both ways. You are expressing a passion between two people. It is not simply something given out. In the giving out, you are also receiving. You’re reflecting and receiving the light of spirit.

The energy of spirit is never directed in just one form or another. It is directed in many ways, through compassion, through listening, through being, through prayer, and through vulnerability. There are many layers. It is a shared energy, not one that is simply given out. You pray for God’s presence in your life, but that prayer is clearly a prayer of your being open and that you will recognize what is offered to you through the spirit.

Life is precious, but life is always an exchange. Life is to be shared. It is to be given and received. Life is always in that state of expansion, because that is what energy does.

You are the light because you continue to expand, and when moments come in your life when you do not see that expansion, when you do not feel that expansion, know that in the most significant ways, the energy of spirit, the energy of your soul, the light of life moves forward and gains in perspective and strength.

You are blessed in the light. You are blessed in the spirit energy that is at the core of all that is. Rejoice always that you are growing, even when that growth is unrecognized. Give thanks for the energy that you have, the spiritual light that you possess. Allow it to illuminate your path, everything in your path, and you will continue to know that the spirit of God surrounds you at all times with the energy of love.
