• The light and color of the soul
• Praying for another
• True healing is balance
The brilliance of God's light is reflected by each of you through the many indescribable colors that emanate from your souls. Countless times we have spoken of spiritual light, of the intensity of what comes from each of you. You must always remember that you do not originate that light. You absorb it and then you radiate that energy outward. First comes the light from another; then comes the resulting warmth and light from you.
Your souls provide a strong beacon, especially when they are in company with others who also reflect God's light. It is in this collective reflection that each soul in turn becomes strengthened. You are each given strength as a result of being with others who are strong. None of you are really weaker. Your lights have different hues, different colors, but those colors reflect the colors that are surrounding you constantly, and therefore the color of what you emanate is always changing.
You need each other, not only those within this group, but everyone. Your souls do not develop alone. They develop only in connection with another, whether it be one or a thousand. You are given this form of life because of the opportunity for collective living with others. It is this collective experience that then enhances the growth and depth for each of you. You must therefore seek opportunities for sharing in the life of another—sharing through caring, sharing through prayer, sharing through giving, sharing through listening. It is the collective experience that is so essential to your growth.
You are drawn at this moment together in your mutual concerns for your sick friend and his family. Your expressions of giving and loving to them serve to provide a kind of inspiration to their souls, but they also provide the opportunity for your spiritual light to be enhanced through your nearness to them. This nearness does not have to be physical. Your thoughts and prayers are a form of nearness. When you pray for another, the light of the other is enhanced because it takes on some of the hues, some of the colors of your soul, and your soul receives that reflection back as a mixture containing the colors of all who have prayed for the other person, and you are then enhanced through that greater intensity.
Yes, we frequently speak of color and light although it is nearly impossible for you to conceive of the brilliance that we see. Certainly the connection, the analogy, between light and love is clear. If you are illuminated by another soul, you are strengthened by another soul and you are guided by another soul.
We are, of course, your guides who serve to protect you, to give you direction, who serve to focus God's light upon your souls, but you must also recognize that each of you has within you the capacity of being a guide to another. It is a different kind of guidance, to be sure, but it is nevertheless guidance. It is what you can do for another.
When you pray for healing, you are guiding the soul of another, you are guiding that soul's ability to be receptive to health. The nature of that healing may or may not be what each of you might wish for, but the healing that you really seek—one of peace, one of love—is achieved and enhanced through your prayers and through your presence. That enhancement, that opening of the gates of receptive love, is a form of guidance, and it is an opportunity that each of you has to directly benefit the lives of others.
Health is an equilibrium, it is a stability, it is a balancing, a strength. Healing is not just a correction of physical difficulties, for correction is really a stabilizing. Healing is truly beyond the physical. Healing is total. When you feel anger, there is a lack of balance, there is a lack of equilibrium. When you feel discouragement, there is the same lack. When you experience anything which is negative, there is a lack of the stability that is most desired.
So when healing takes place, it takes place in the form of a stabilized life. When you pray for healing for another, you are really praying for that stability, that strength, that balance. It then becomes a life that is truly fulfilled. In many ways the course of human life is the search for stability. For some, the stability is viewed as happiness. For others, it is viewed as financial security or inner peace. Whatever one seeks is only a part of the picture.
Inner peace is the ultimate goal, for when inner peace is ultimately achieved, life is in balance. When there is true inner peace, there is no sense of need, there is no feeling of lacking, of incompleteness. All is in balance. It is in truth the ultimate manifestation of God's presence, for God is balance. The imperfection of human life is imbalance, and it is from the imbalance that need arises. By being healed, one achieves godly balance. One who reaches that stage in life has succeeded in achieving all that God would wish.
In your own lives you must constantly seek a sense of balance. Much of that balance is achieved, not by striving for something, but rather accepting what is in your own lives. Such acceptance does not mean complacency, but rather a sense that what is is a reflection of God's balance. What is is a recognition of what is essential. When you achieve inner peace, you are no longer plagued by constant anxiety. You may recognize challenges and difficulties, for you do not go through life with blinders attached, but recognizing such challenges does not mean that the presence of those challenges dominates your life, but rather that the stability of inner peace dominates the challenges. It is where you are coming from that makes all the difference in the world.
You pray for peace—you are praying for that stability of which we speak. You pray for healing—you are praying for the same thing. The greatest healing of all, therefore, is the inner peace that comes from a total balance in life. There is no greater goal and there is no greater joy than the achievement of that balance. Pray for healing, yes, but be aware of what that healing is, and you will be more ready to view that wondrous achievement.
As one gets older, one frequently senses the importance of balance. When one is very young, one has no view of the need for balance. One is only aware of external needs. One is only dominated by the presence of the imbalance, and it is the working through of that change from imbalance to balance that ultimately prescribes a life of grace.
You pray for one another; you pray for yourselves. Both are okay. It is not selfish to pray for oneself. It is in no way contradictory of God's love for others that you pray for your own balance and stability, for it is out of your stability that further strength emerges ,and you are then even more capable of reaching out to provide that equilibrium for others. You are then more able to be guides of another.
We serve as your guides because we have experienced that balance, and it is from the position of balance that we are given the strength to provide safety, instruction, guidance. So it is that each of you needs that balance from which we on our place of life function. Life, then, is the search for balance, and the achievement of that balance is the culmination of all that human life exists for.
You pray for us, but we pray for you. Indeed, we emphasize that we pray for you. We do not just do something for you. We pray, for we recognize from our perspective the greater presence of God, the greater collective assembly of souls who have experienced many levels of spiritual growth. This collective assembly of souls ultimately serves as the arm and heart of God. So when you feel yourselves being helped by God, recognize that you are also being helped by all who have experienced what you experience.
Embrace life for what it has to teach you. Embrace your own lives with gratitude for the opportunity of being a student of God. Recognize when you reflect learning, when you act with insight. Recognize when you receive love and your empowerment to offer it. Be blessed in the knowledge that each of you is held in God's hand. Each of you is being cared for and nurtured. Each of you is being strengthened so you may care and nurture others. Welcome those opportunities and be open to giving thanks to God for what life brings to each of you.
You are indeed blessed, as we are blessed, by the magnificent brilliance of God’s light and love.
Amen.
