• Free will and the choice for God

God shines light upon the souls of each of you and each of us, your guides. God’s presence for us is an immediate experience from our position on our plane. We do not see God as a kind of person, but we feel God’s presence. There is a brilliance, a radiance, an intensity which surrounds us and stimulates our lives. This presence is so much more personal than it was when we were living as human beings on earth.

Much of what we say to you is the result of our experiencing God. Without the openness of our souls created by God's light and that intense presence, we would be unable to pass God's guidance through to reach you. When the room is light, it is easier for you to pass through than when the room is darkened, and so it is with the communication of souls. Each of you can communicate spiritually with the other, but it is more difficult to do than it is for us to communicate with you because the room in which we live, the plane, is more intensely illuminated and we see life through that illumination.

God clearly presents the way for us to follow as we continue our spiritual journey. As with you, we have freedom of choice. We can choose to grow; we can choose to remain where we are. As an example, we can choose to remain close to our human loved ones, to remain close to human existence that we have passed through. We can remain close for a long time in your measurements. We can also choose not to look back but to look forward to continued growth and higher planes of life. It is our choice.

But the path which is essentially before all of us ultimately leads in one direction, that being a union with God. It is like a magnet which constantly exerts a pull. We can choose to be drawn by the pull or to resist it and do things as we wish to. Ultimately all souls recognize that their destiny lies not with their own will but with God, and yet God enables all souls to exercise their own wills. Sooner or later the direction toward God becomes affirmed. So it is in your own lives. You do not see God with the brilliance of light that we experience, and that is of course, as it should be.

Your concerns about the relationship of free will versus allowing God to control your life can be clarified by the recognition that God is drawing each of you closer, whatever you do. For some traveling back to God is longer in duration than for others, but that is where you ultimately find yourselves, with God. Time is not an issue here. If we were to use concepts of time to clarify the truth for your benefit, we could say it matters not that a soul grows toward God over a period of millions of years or hundreds of years. It is of no importance whatsoever. All that is important is that the growth be accomplished.

Each of you must exercise your sense of control. But that control can be with the recognition of God's presence in that system or with no recognition. When you accept God into the system by which you make decisions, that in itself is a choice that is a kind of control, for you are welcoming your awareness of God into the design of your own life. It is relinquishing control, and yet it is your choice to do so. When you relinquish control and turn your lives over to God, you are not relieving yourself of the responsibility for action, but rather you are strengthening your perception of what is really best in order to effect change in your life. God is in control only because God is constantly exerting a kind of magnetic pull upon your souls, but it is your free will which determines the course that is taken.

Your lives are full of decisions. They are full of frustrations. But often you do not recognize that they are full of God. The frustrations and anxieties, the agony, the pain as well as the joy, the exaltation take on meaning when they are seen with the light that is created by your awareness of God's presence. They are given importance and position through that light. You draw meaning for your lives through the vision which is afforded you from the blessed light of God.

None of you stand alone. None of you live in vacuums. None of you make decisions in a vacuum, but each of you has the potential for lives greatly enriched by a strengthened sensitivity to the brilliance of light which surrounds your lives. You can experience this to a lesser degree than what we experience, but it can still be a real element in your lives. We are at times overwhelmed by what we see because of the brilliant light, and yet our vision will continue to grow as we develop to higher planes of spiritual growth.

It is our pleasure to serve as your guides. We do it lovingly and willingly, as we've said before. We urge you to make an effort to withdraw from daily activities on a more regular basis to meet and focus on God within your lives. We look forward to our next reunion of each of you and each of your guides together. We bless you in God's name and in God’s brilliance and love.
