Inspired Wisdom For Your Life

BACK TO INDEX

• Intervention by guides

• Souls choose the path for growth in human form

• Being a guide to another human

God is with each of you. God strengthens your guides and strengthens the bonds that connect your souls to your guides.

Your discussion this evening was an extremely important one arising out of the content of our last communication with you. We said we do not alter the direction, the course of your lives, and you wonder about the process of intervention and whether that intervention does in fact alter the direction each of you follows. What was most important about your discussion was what was shared by several of you at the end, namely events in which you found yourselves coming face to face with an individual who seemed to be intervening on your behalf. Can it be that such intervention is the intervention of guides or is it a matter of chance?

You must believe us when you are told that such intervention was the result of your guides. It was not your guide who intervened, but it was the result of the presence of your guide and the sensitivity of another individual to his or her guide. We have explained in many previous times together that guides are in communication with one another. When intervention takes place it is because of the sensitivity of another to his or her guide. That individual's guide is in communication with your own guide. It is your guide who communicates with another to affect the response of another in a means that is directly beneficial to you. The individual who responds is not a sudden physical transformation of a spiritual guide, but an individual who is moved to respond through his or her own sensitivity. Here is the beauty of the relationships which are possible between humans.

Your guides did not change the course of your lives, but rather insured the security of the course, guaranteeing its continuation. All of you experience events in life which wrench you or pull you away from the path which is most appropriate for your own development as individuals and as spiritual entities. We, your guides, are empowered to lead you back upon the proper path. We are not changing the direction your lives must travel. We are merely securing that path. We are guiding you. A guide does not make the path. A guide helps you to see the path and keeps you on it. The path exists before the guide accompanies you. Your guides are chosen to help you remain on the path, not to determinate it for you. We are your spiritual vision. It is through us that you sense where you are going and where you should be going, but it is not we who make that decision.

A guide is a guide, not a pathfinder, not a pathmaker. The directions your souls are to travel are determined before your human life commences. Your souls, as you know, choose the path for growth and the means for achieving that growth, and they become attached to human forms. You then travel along your journey together. At times your conscious mind prefers one direction, and your soul recognizes the wisdom of another direction. It is at this point that your guides can and often do intervene to maintain your lives upon the appropriate path. That is what we do when we guide. The vision of that path is provided by God. The wisdom of that path is chosen and determined by God.

It is your soul which is the contact between your human lives and the path laid out by God. God makes the roads, your soul is the contact with the road, and you ride upon that road during your human lives. The road differs from individual to individual. There is no road which is better. There are only different roads. So many religions in the world speak of a single way by which its believers can achieve the desired union with God, but there is in fact no single way. There is a separate way for each soul, and for that reason each soul must have a guide. If there were a common way for all to develop, there would be no need for guides, for you would merely follow everyone around you and eventually wind up at the chosen goal. But this is not what happens in life. The complexity of the path necessitates the presence of a guide.

We are your spiritual guides—we are the guides for your soul. Those moments when you are aware of what you call divine intervention are times when you are consciously aware of being guided, of being led, of being shown a direction. Indeed, our guidance can at times be concrete and visible and obvious for many to recognize. You may be guided through another and you may be guided by the urgings of your soul. The implications here are not merely that you must be open to the exercise of guidance by others. What is important above all else is that you become aware of the potential you have to serve as a concrete guide for someone else. It is your presence which may be the route by which guidance is exercised on another individual.

All of you have been guides of another, even without your knowledge. There are times when your presence has changed the activities of others, helping to keep them on a path which is appropriate for them. There are times when you do things because you know it is right to do them at that moment. You are urged to call someone, you are urged to be at a place, to talk with another. This is often your guide nudging you to be a response to the needs of someone else. You are in effect being a manifestation of a spiritual guide.

The interdependence between people is certainly clear to each of you in this regard. Whether you are being open to your own guide guiding you or being open to your own guide so that you may serve as a kind of guide to someone else, both are important. What is essential here is your openness to your guide. The purposes for that openness may be varied, but the potential for benefit to you and to others is undeniable. It begins with that openness to your guides. We empower you to move forward on the correct path. We give you nudges to indicate that you should go in this direction rather than in that direction. And sometimes we empower another to physically take you by the hand and lead you toward some objective.

Your guides influence your lives on many different levels. Even without our influence, even without our guiding hand, your souls as you recognize are independent. There have been many events that each of you can recall when intervention has been present. It's important to recognize that intervention and not to consider it coincidence. God, through your guides, helps you maintain the appropriate course for your development.

Life is not a steady, straight road. It is full of diversions, be they poor judgment, misinterpretation, inattentiveness, malice, jealousy, fear, self-doubt, anxieties in communication with God through us. Growth takes place, at times in spite of you. But it is our loving obligation to nurture that growth, to nurture the spiritual response to God and to one another. We are here to empower you, to enable you to grow, to enable your souls to fulfill their potential, to enable your human lives to reflect your spiritual lives. We are here to facilitate. It is God who provides comfort and peace. When you pray for peace, inner peace, it is God who provides that peace, but it is we who empower you to receive what God provides.

Our relationship with you is complex and constant. It is continually evolving and becoming deeper and more profound as your lives become more sensitized and more compassionate. As you search for God in your life, look around you, see who is next to you —really see who is next to you—for you are seeing a part of God. Be aware of help that is offered and recognize the place that your guides have in that help. Be willing to offer your help to others, recognizing that that offer comes as a result of your guide's urgings, your guide's gentle nudges to move and to stay on track.

The issue of free choice is provided you, but it is we, your guides, who empower you with the ability to exercise that choice. There is much more to be said about your questions of free choice. There is much still to learn, but it is important at this stage to understand more profoundly the function of your guides in your lives and the function of your guides in the lives of others. It is through God that you are blessed with an awareness. It is through your guides that you are led to God.

We love you. We look out for your continued growth. We are concerned in a supportive manner that you remain on a path that is best for you. Your guides will continue throughout your life to provide a view of where that path leads. You live illuminated by the brilliance of God's presence and the love of God’s support. Rejoice in that knowledge, rejoice in the Light! That is your blessing.

Amen.
