• Time is meaningless

• What’s really important in life

• Guides do not create obstacles for humans

God's blessings surround all of you indeed. God’s love is a part of each of your lives although you may sense only a small portion. As your lives continue to evolve, you will become even more aware of God’s presence.

We would like to talk to you at this time about time and its impact on life and its ultimate meaninglessness. On previous occasions we have asserted that time really has no meaning, but perhaps now it is of importance to further examine this. You could understand intellectually when we say time does not exist, but it is very difficult to fully comprehend what is meant and of what importance such a statement is to you.

Time is a way for you to separate events, moments in life. They are separated in such a way that you perceive a cause and effect, action and consequence, first and last, beginning and end, before and later. But all of these constructions have been devised by humankind as an attempt to understand what it is to live a human life. In truth however, time as you know it has no importance. The measurement of time or the procession of events is a human construction. If you consider the analogy of fish in the ocean, they swim, they exist, there is no race, there is no sense of beginning or end, of past or future, there is no concept of a starting point and a finishing point. Fish merely live, they exist, and then it is over. Their lives are ultimately completed.

In a sense, human life with respect to time can be viewed similarly. Certainly there is youth and adulthood, but the placement of objectives, the measurement of order into beginning and middle and end, start and finish, has been put in place by humans in an attempt to give meaning to what it is they are currently doing. If you are active in a project but see no objective to be reached, no goal to be achieved, any definable purpose, then you quickly lose commitment. You lose that sense of direction, and the activity becomes meaningless. You don't work just because you work. You work in order to serve a function in society, whether it is the service of others or a desire for personal security or any number of other objectives. But those objectives provide a basis that gives meaning to what you do.

Is it not possible to feel that life is a matter of growth with no sense of time-frame attached? You know that life is not a race. Often we have said it does not matter if one is first or second, for there are no winners; there are only finishers. Your life is to be lived. It is not to be won or lost. It is not to be placed on a pedestal or downcast as a failure. Life is to be lived. You are in the process of living. You must grow spiritually, and life provides the opportunities for a certain type of growth. It is for these opportunities that you are given life. What is important is that you merely grow.

The sense of time carries with it the feeling of urgency, of deadlines, of limitations of one kind or another. You are not given life to meet deadlines. The individual whose life spans seventy or eighty years is no more or no less successful than one whose life is twenty years. You may say that a young life that is terminated is a terrible waste. Indeed it was tragic, but the tragedy is not related to time. The tragedy is an unjust act committed by one against another. That is the tragedy.

Too often you are caught up in a rat race where you feel that certain objectives must be met within a stipulated time-frame. Such pressures are not just created by you but by society, and you feel the obligation to respond as society would demand. Much of society is governed by time, but living life according to deadlines and finite objectives, governed in turn by the concept of time, destroys your capacity to recognize the importance of just living, allowing yourself to grow. Of course you cannot throw away your clocks and watches, but you can certainly de-emphasize their importance.

When you fully accept the concept that human life is given for the purpose of spiritual growth, time itself loses any significance, for there are no time demands placed upon spiritual growth, only the condition that growth occur. It may be fast, it may be slow. That is of little importance. All that matters is that growth takes place.

If you are approaching a problem, you may ask or pray for insight. It is the insight which is important, not really the speed that insight is obtained. We feel it is essential that you take from your burdens many of the time related challenges to the extent that you can continue to function effectively within the human society. De-emphasize the necessity of dealing with time as a great governor of whether a life is successful or unsuccessful.

Your relationships with others are crucial to your spiritual development. If you learn to express and to accept love, time does not enter the equation. It is the condition of love that is of highest value. When you love someone, you don't put a time limitation on it. You don't love someone if they return your love within hours or days or weeks. You don't provide an ultimatum that says this relationship must be developed within a

It is the certain amount of time or there is no relationship. Time becomes folly. relationship that matters.

What we are saying is for you to keep your sights on what really is important, mainly growth—growth in insights, growth in understanding, the development of peace, personal acceptance and mutual love. That's what life is about. If you take away the element of time from much of your life, you'll find yourself experiencing more peace than ever before. You will sense less pressure. There will be less panic. You will be on your way to experiencing a true inner peace.

The love of God has no connection with time. God’s love is not offered on the condition that you must accept it and return it in this lifetime or decade or year or day or moment. There are those who measure their relationship with God in terms of time with the classic question, "When were you saved? When were you born again?" Those questions are really unimportant. What is really essential is merely, "Are you aware of God? Are you growing in that awareness? Is it expanding to encompass all others in your view and in your awareness?" That's what's important here. Take time away from the equation of life and you eliminate guilt and frustration, and you open yourselves to greater peace.

We said in our last message to you that we provide opportunities that are challenges for you. Your being together at this moment is a challenge, for you are being urged to change your view of life from one based on time to one completely void of such a concern. That is a challenge. It may be easy to understand intellectually, but it is extraordinarily difficult to put into practice. You wouldn't be here if you were not searching for a fuller understanding of what is important and what is of lesser significance, and so we offer you this challenge to seek out a life where you clearly recognize what is important and what is not and then live your lives in the light of that recognition.

We do not place obstacles in your lives. A sense of challenge does not imply that we manipulate you to face difficulties. It is more a way of helping you focus your lives in new directions that are more meaningful. Those are the challenges of ultimate importance and the challenges that concern us here.

The peace that God wishes for all of creation is yours to tap into and to draw from at your will. It is a great reservoir of strength and you can dip into it with energy and commitment and a fuller recognition that its nourishment brings meaning to your lives.

We transmit to you the peace that is God's peace. We convey to you the love that is God's love. We reflect to you the brilliance which is God's light. Take from these sources and let them give your life strength and vitality and meaning.

We bless you with God’s love and light and strength.

Amen.
