The arc of humanity bends always toward love. You have heard that expression of it bending toward justice, but justice can be a stopgap measure. It may respond to perceived needs, but it is not as lasting as bending toward love, for out of love, justice is ultimately given true meaning. Such concepts of justice imply retribution, punishment, and accountability, but love does not contain such characteristics. There is no retribution, no accountability. There’s no getting back or evening the score.

Therefore, the truer statement is that the arc of humanity bends toward love. It is not toward love in the next month or the next year. It is not bent toward love in your lifetime. It may be one of each of these, but it is not a condition. It is not the nature of God to say you must become loving while you are engaged in human life. It is enough to say you must be engaged in becoming loving.
