Create the light that is God’s love.

March 18, 2024

It is the loving spirit of God that brings light and life to your spiritual pathway. God’s light is one of warm, loving care, a presence that is above all characterized by a spiritual embrace of all that you are. The light of God, the life of God that is being offered refers to your experiences in human form on that pathway, for your pathway is illuminated by love but experienced through life.

For many, the experience of life is void of a clear vision of the love that belongs to the journey. The challenges of life differ from one person to another, but there are always issues to be faced. There are always relationships to be experienced. Even if one’s life is measured in brief moments before the termination of human life, there is still an interaction with that life. That interaction may be direct or indirect, but there is always some level of love that exists.

God’s light, therefore, is always present regardless of the length and nature of the life itself. There is no life that exists regardless of length that is removed from that light that is God. There are those whose lives are accompanied by some recognition of the love that is God’s love. In other words, there are lives that have some recognition of the light on their pathways. But whether or not an individual sees the light on the pathway, the light still exists. One can close one’s eyes, and yet the light does not disappear. It is only one’s recognition that is being blocked.

All lives regardless of their appearances, therefore, contain within them the light that belongs as well as the life that is being engaged. You are not being asked to live a life disengaged from all that exists on your pathway. Each pathway is different. The obstacles you encounter are different, but you are encouraged, you are urged, you are instructed, you are counseled always to seek light. When we say that your life is illuminated by God’s light, it is given meaning, a reference point, and that reference point is love. Such a reference point is not meant just to be recognized. Rather it is present so that it can be taken inward and ultimately offered outward.

You are given light to illuminate your pathway, but that energy of light also becomes part of who you are. Because it is part of who you are, it becomes a reference point from which you encounter the life that exists on your pathway.

All lives have different challenges. Such challenges may appear to some to be different, to be more difficult when compared to others. Some may feel their challenges are less difficult than others. Such comparisons of life are comparing an appearance, but there is no way to evaluate and compare the substance. You can acknowledge the differences in appearances, but those differences are of little substance. Yes, they create problems of the moment. They create pain. They create suffering. They may create emotional agony. But all of that is transitory. It is not permanent. What is permanent is that light.

When you face difficulties, when you face indecision, when you face hardships by whatever description you may choose, what is important is not those challenges as part of your life, for that is only a small part. The bigger part of your existence as a human being is to find ways of seeing the light.

But how do you see the light when you are surrounded by shadows? The light that you see must be, most importantly, a light that is felt deep within you. It is a conviction that in the midst of what you encounter there is a loving presence. There is a force that embraces, that affirms, that strengthens, that provides peace. That force is the light. It is the one reference point on your journey that is unchanging. It is dependable, it is permanent, and it is present regardless of your experiences. It is always the starting point for your encounter of life.

Where to find that light inside? One finds it through the observations of others. It is not an abstract belief that you say to yourself, “Well, in the midst of all this, I’m sure God’s love is present.” That is too abstract, and that does not engage you in the process of seeing that light. The light comes from your interaction with others.

You may be surrounded by difficulties regardless of the nature. There are those around you who reach out and care and offer to be present. They offer themselves. Such a gesture, such an action by another, is a source of the light that is God. When all around you may seem to be crumbling, there are people who enter your life, who you encounter on your pathway, who offer their presence, their being with you, their caring. That unselfish giving of another is an expression of God’s light.

If you see yourself in the shadows and wish to find God’s light, open yourself to the goodness you see from another. Such opening lightens your burden, and you are assured of the energy of goodness, the energy of giving of self, the energy of love being offered. Recognizing that, you feel in your deepest core that there is something in that exchange that is God’s presence. You are filled with light as you pursue your life. Both are indispensable in the growth of spirit. You may feel that your spirit can grow just fine without so many challenges, but the fact is that your spirit grows because of your response to life. Observing God’s presence in another provides a reference point for your experiencing life.

You speak of the suffering in the world and your belief that such suffering creates so much negative energy. There is certainly truth to that, but that negative energy is dissipated, is reduced because of the heart vision of light. Seeing this light within as evidenced by others in your lives does not remove the challenges you observe, but the example of an individual embracing you with their presence in one form or another can serve as evidence that in the midst of your journey, the light is there. Despite the sufferings around the world, God’s light is there. There are those who are moved to reach outward in love, in caring, in their prayers, in the search for understanding, in the search for healing, in the search for strength, in the search for peace. That light expands.

The energy of darkness expands because of human concerns, but those opportunities for darker energy to expand are significantly less powerful and less present than the natural expansion of God’s love through the actions of others. True action by God is seen through commitment by others to reach outward, to support, to be present, to listen, to care. When you are serving as a light of God toward another, your commitment to come to the aid of another in one way or another is an act of God.

You sometimes speak of someone being a ray of light or a ray of sunshine. In a way, there is much truth to that. You have opportunities to reach out and be supportive, to reach out to another on a profound level. You are God’s light. Your relationship as you reach out creates a spiritual bond with another. You may not feel that spiritual bond, but there is an energy that is created between your spirit and the spirit of another.

That energy affirms the reality of God’s presence, and it is that energy that is a nonhuman, knowing life-form through the acknowledgment that occurs. Whenever you reach out with an understanding and caring heart to another, you are creating the light that is God’s love. You are creating a form of energy that did not exist until you were committed, until your intention to reach out. God’s light is a light of intention. It is a light governed by an acknowledgment and commitment to the dignity of another. It is that commitment that is the new energy.

You can, of course, decide not to commit to others, and that decision may be the appropriate one for you at the moment. But as you view the pathway with an open heart, you will find moments when such a commitment to others is the only option you know. That reaching another, that supporting another, that being with another is the only direction that you can follow. You are then in a kind of flow of God’s light. You then are participating as a light giver, and you are making a difference regardless of the evidence you see of suffering and injustice in the world.

The difference you can make is a function of a loving heart, and it is part of God’s presence. You are creating new energy. You are creating an awareness, a recognition, an acknowledgement, of God’s presence. You are seeing the light on your own pathway. You create. You are part of the Creator, and you are an integral part of what has been created. In short, there is no real separation between the Creator and all that is being created. There is a flow of energy from Creator to what is being created. That flow is a knowing lifeforce because it is an acknowledgment of God’s light and your place within that light.

You are blessed when you participate in that creation. You are blessed when you witness the presence of God in another. You are blessed in the strength that is yours as you see the light. Be warmed by it. Be strengthened by it. Be guided by it always.

Amen.
