Religious sects are of human origin.

March 14, 1982

God is again with you in this group and surrounds you with love, warmth, and brilliant radiance.

The paths that you travel individually and as a group are full of opportunities for reflection and questioning and the seeking of God’s light. That is why you are on that path. If such travel were of little use, then God would be clearly visible to you from the beginning, and it would be yours only to choose to step forward into God’s intense light or to back away into a darker corner. But that is not God’s will. God’s will, clearly stated, is for you to travel through an earthly life, experiencing earthly life, coping with it, being challenged by it, growing through it. You cannot escape the reality of life’s imprint upon your soul. All that your soul has as it reaches our sphere is a result of life prior to earthly life and the experiences imprinted through earthly existence.

We know of your intense interest in the message which you have most recently received. The content is difficult to fully appreciate, and none of you can approach the message from the same perspective or position as another. It is like a well of water from which you may drink according to your need. There are many of you who have read accounts of messages or communions with those of us on our side, and frequently your interpretation of the meaning of those messages will differ from the meaning given or felt by the person who received those messages, but that is natural. God speaks to each of you, but as a group speaks through one guide. I, your guide, am in touch with each guide belonging to your group, and for that reason each of you is able to draw meaning and significance from that which is given to you. But your perceptions will still be different. There are times when what is offered is focused upon the needs of the receiver.

There are times when what is received is based on the needs of one particular individual within your group, and there are other times when God sends a message corporately. But whether it is offered in a focus for the entire group or in a focus for a particular member, each of your group, each of you, learns, for in truth each can learn from another. You learn from the faith of another, as well as from your own faith. You learn through the acts of another, as well as through your own acts. You are all closely related spiritually, and therefore, can learn and grow as a group and not just individually.

The message on emotions is an important one for it strikes at the heart of one of the essential causes of guilt in human life. Its purpose is not to condone the rightness of all emotions. Its purpose is to eliminate guilt brought about through the expression of such emotion. Because you need feel no guilt in the expression of your feelings, all feelings are essentially equal as they relate to the direction away from guilt. That equality of emotion does not mean that negative expressions are just as good in your terms as positive emotion. God is positive emotion, for love is positive emotion. Love is not destructive. Love is not ego. Love is totally unselfish and that can only be a part of joy.

So often we say to you that God is pleased, but we could never tell you that God is angry, for in a state of spiritual projection there is only joy. We who exist in this sphere of life do not experience anger, do not experience depression or destructiveness. We may say at times that we wish we could reach you more often, but that is a wish of love. It is not a wish of selfishness or a wish expressed from an ego. We experience joy, great joy, beyond what you can experience during the human phase of your life, but we worked to eliminate negativism. Much of that work for us was after we shed our human existence.

In your lives you must seek a stronger presence of joy, slowly squeezing out the opportunities for negativism to take hold. The presence of negative emotions in your life is equally natural with the presence of positive feelings. We do not say they are of equal importance, but only that they are normal to be present to whatever degree. If you accept the necessity of human life in the development of your soul, you must be willing to accept the naturalness of what it is that is human. Naturalness does not imply that it is advisable to keep it up at all costs, but only that its presence is natural. The development of your spiritual self indeed leads to the elimination of a sense of ego, and of course you should be working toward that end, but it is clearly an end, that elimination of ego. It is not a description of the nature of human life.

What God wishes you to learn from all of this is for you first to discern what the elements are belonging to human existence, and secondly to recognize how those elements fit into the development of your soul. By understanding more clearly the reasons for your human existence, you will be in a better position to use your life in a constructive manner.

In the end, you will experience only joy as God experiences only joy. To the extent that the experience of joy is a human emotion as well, God is partly human. But there is no place in God’s light for the negative emotions which are so much a part of human life. The transition from negative and positive to completely positive is an indication or a barometer giving evidence to the motion of your soul toward God’s light.

Each of you should feel your lights strengthening. We wish so fervently that you could actually see your own lights, for you would recognize immediately the growth which takes place and the peace which is developing. The road you travel is not a straight road. It is full of many curves and bumps and detours, but viewed from our spiritual perspective, each of you is moving toward God ever surely and with great strength.

You should seek more peace, peace in your life and peace on earth. The peace within your life is viewed through your awareness of God’s acts and presence, but peace on earth is achieved in the same manner. It is not important which doctrine or religious sect appears moving in the proper direction, for these sects are of human origin. For a greater peace to be achieved, there must be a greater evidence of God’s presence in the affairs of the world.

God’s presence is there. God’s presence is with each one individually and as a nation. God is with all humanity, but it is you as an individual who have the responsibility for reflecting that presence. God has stated before that human life is essential for God’s work to be successful on earth. God does not achieve peace in a vacuum. God achieves peace only when people achieve peace.

Peace and war are made by people, not solely by God. God is the great influence for peace but is never the source of war. For real military and spiritual peace to be achieved and human dignity to be maintained, it is up to you to serve in a way which gives evidence of God’s presence. For one individual to be directly given a vision of God’s presence, it is best done through the reflection of another.

You cannot tell someone that God exists. You cannot debate God’s presence. You cannot scientifically prove that God is always present. None of these efforts will affect an acceptance on the part of another, a deep and lasting acceptance.

To be convinced that God is present, one must see God not as some sort of human-like figure in a white robe as is so often portrayed. God’s presence is seen through the actions of another. God’s presence is made known only as you make it known, and therein lies the true potential for a world peace. You may feel insufficient to the task of affecting a broadly felt peace when you are one person, but God does not intend one person to bring peace to the world. God intends all people to move thusly.

You have a responsibility within the life that you lead toward those with whom you are in contact. That is where you serve. You serve your neighbor, and you serve colleagues. You serve all whom you see and pray for. That is the arena of peace that you can positively affect. It is you individually who bring about that peace. It is you who express love through your acts of compassion and moral strength and sensitivity and presence. It is you who are the hand of God. You have the power to change the tide of affairs. You can affect the world. You can affect relationships with one another. That is what God provides you the power to achieve.

Your presence in this group for the purpose of receiving communions places such responsibility upon you, for you, each of you, recognize the reality of God. You know that God is not a concept or a vague idea, but is real. You know God is alive. You know God is present in your lives, and you must be willing to give witness to that, for if your sense of closeness to God stops beyond this circle, then God stops for many who are beyond this circle. This is the beginning, the beginning of your work as God’s hands.

Feel the joy of recognition. Feel the confidence in the power of God and in your ability to reflect God to provide concrete evidence, proof to another as it were, of God’s place within the world. God is joyful. God is joy, and unselfish joy is pure love. Therefore, God is love. God’s love, the light of that love, illuminates each of your souls. It provides you with warmth when you need it and ask for it. It provides you with comfort. It provides you with an abiding sense of peace, of a lack of conflict. It provides you with a blinding light driving away any shadows within your lives, and we bless you with that blinding light of God’s presence.

Amen.
