To spread love, spread equality.

October 4, 2010

God provides peace, stability, vision, perspective to every one of you—those who are part of this group, those who know nothing of it but pursue their lives according to their own vision.

We serve each of you in unique ways according to your own particular needs. We serve you because we love you. Service is love, and love is service. You respond to others in service, and you are exercising one kind of love. It is a love that is completely selfless. Often what human beings describe as being loving is merely referring to what serves themselves rather than others. Love is not about getting. It is not about constantly being fulfilled in one way or another. Love is about fulfilling. It is an action. It is an approach. It is a way of life, a way of thinking that is directed outward. But there is also a component to love that serves the individual herself, himself, and that service is one of vulnerability about which we often speak.

When you are vulnerable, when you are willing to express needs, you are living in an environment that we can describe as loving, for loving involves an acknowledgment of the validity of others. And when you admit your own vulnerability and the need for help, in that very admission you’re validating the importance of others. Yes, you’re asking for others to assist you, but in doing that, you’re placing value on another. Even when it is you yourself that may benefit, the valuing of another is essential. When you ascribe value to all others honestly and fully, then you are recognizing that others can serve you, and that others need to be served by you.

Loving does not mean placing on a pedestal. It does not mean seeing someone as being unattainable, impossible to equal, impossible to challenge. That is not love. That is a kind of idolatry, and that is not godly. Love is removing the pedestals that may hinder your ability to relate. By removing the pedestals, you are all standing on the same ground. You are all sharing the same foundation. You’re all existing together, spiritually and physically. No one is elevated. No one is regarded as being at a different level. This means you do not regard yourself either as above or below another. All are equal.

Love is exercised between equals. It is not experienced between one on a pedestal and another beneath. Pedestals have no function in the exercise of love. You do not serve with love when you serve with a sense of superiority. You are not truly experiencing love when you feel you are inferior. For love to function in the human experience, it can only be manifest with equals, only among those who feel equally worthy, equally important, equally valued. For you to spread the impact of love in the world, you must spread the importance of equality.

The peace that you seek between nations, individuals, cultures, only comes together with equality. There is so much concern around the world about peace in the Middle East, peace in Ukraine, peace in Africa, peace in South America, peace in Asia, peace within your own nation, but these conflicts arise out of inequality. There is always a source of power that seems somehow to be dominating. No peace is achieved through domination. No friendship is developed through domination. No relationship of any kind between two individuals is fully loving in the presence of domination.

It is the charge of human beings who see themselves as faithful to work even harder to reflect their sense of total equality in order to foster the conditions necessary for peace. In society, when there is conflict, there is always a sense of victimhood. There is always a party or a group of individuals who feel in some manner oppressed. That merely adds to the tension and makes the peace that you pray for more elusive.

We stress the need for you to acknowledge the equality of all creation, and that is not merely rhetoric. It is the only requirement that is necessary in order to have free expression of peace with love. You seek justice in society, but justice is only achievable between equals. You seek to learn, you seek to teach, you seek to share. Real learning, teaching, and sharing are done when there is a commitment to common ground. The common ground that is necessary is the acceptance of a spiritual unity that connects you to others.

The human condition is characterized by a sensitivity to certain frequencies of energy and insensitivity to other such frequencies. The energy that is God is visible to us. It is the energy that we see, not a particular figure. The energy of the Creator is visible to us. It is not visible to you, but the fact that you cannot see that form of energy does not mean that it does not exist. It exists regardless.

You do not hear forms of communication—radio, television—whose waves surround you constantly, unless you have particular equipment that is tuned to those energy forms, those frequencies. But even though you cannot hear the broadcasts with your ears, you know that that energy is there. What’s more, you know that you are surrounded by that energy. It isn’t something at a distance. It is immediate. It flows around you and through you.

It is the same with our energy. We assert there is no time, there is no space or distance, and all is a single unit, and that is true, but despite that truth, as human beings you cannot tune in easily to that energy and see it. You do not always feel that presence. On occasion it may be possible, but it is not part of the design of human beings to be immediately aware of that energy.

The energy of God, the energy of Love, surrounds and penetrates you. Every atom, every subatomic particle that is part of your reality as a human being is surrounded and penetrated by the loving Presence, the energy that is the Spirit Center, that is God. Because of this constant, ubiquitous presence, you cannot escape it. You can never live outside or beyond the view of God.

You cannot exist outside or beyond the presence of these communication waves of radio, television, satellite presence—any kind of energy. All are part of who you are, and therefore you are by definition a part of all. You do not see those forms of energy, but you are part of those energies.

God’s love is an energy. God’s presence is an energy that permeates all and creates all. The river we spoke of is unlimited in its vastness. It is a kind of flooding energy of love, a flooding energy of compassion, and in that presence, you all exist. You don’t leave its reality.

God’s energy is your energy. You are part of God. You are godly. You are not all that God is, but everyone is a part of what God is. This connection you have in terms of energy is permanent. It is permanent whether you exist in human form or another form.

We refer on occasion to other life-forms in other areas of what you term to be the universe. There are many forms of consciousness. There are many different sensitivities to the energy that is God. For some life-forms, that sensitivity is much like ours in spirit-form. For others, the sensitivity is merely the knowledge that God exists. It is a point of knowledge; it is not a point of vision. It is an article of faith; it is not a belief of proven fact.

There are many ways to interact with the Spirit Center, God, as you identify it. Those ways shared by human beings are countless in number. Imagine the variety when you consider a universe full of conscious individuals who have an awareness at some level of a spiritual, loving, energy center. We are aware of all these forms of consciousness. Some spirits began their consciousness in forms very different from the human form. Other spirits that we “see” with our heart have experienced a human form of consciousness.

It is not important what form preceded the spiritual form of life. What is important is that all forms of consciousness join together because of God’s illumination, because of that Presence. Therefore, you share a bond with forms of energy of which you have no knowledge, located in the universe as you identify it, in such areas of which you have no understanding.

Contemplating the universe is difficult and understanding its complexities is impossible, but it is nevertheless a help in understanding something of the vastness of God. There is a danger to contemplating the universe as an identifiable entity with borders. Science is consumed by thoughts of the Big Bang. Was there such an event? Yes, but not as scientists envision it, for there is more than what you perceive to be the universe. Human beings imagine the universe with boundaries. The universe is expanding, it is said, but if it is felt to be expanding, then there must be an edge beyond which the expansion has not reached.

In reality, the universe, as human beings understand it, is part of something far greater and far smaller. The universe expands in your concepts, but the universe is no larger or smaller. It is not really growing. There is no sense of space. There is no reality to that concept, but it does provide a perspective for understanding that your Earth is only a small component of the totality of God’s creation.

These other life-forms that we speak of are not some science fiction entities living on another planet far away. These life-forms are as close to you as those radio waves which permeate all. They are as close to you as the waves of light, of warmth. They are as close to you as the waves of thought. God’s creation includes these many kinds of sensitivities, all of which are part of your own life, even when you are unaware. Your life, therefore, must be characterized by that recognition that all is equal—all that exists within the universe as you perceive that to be and far beyond the universe, but recognizing that what is beyond the universe is right next to you.

Emphasize, as you seek understanding of your life, the importance of equal footing, equal importance, equal stature—the equality, the importance of all that is. You are in some sense the product of all that exists, whether you choose to identify that as the past or the present or the future. We could say you are a product of the future. We could say you are a product of what is yet to come. That makes no sense when you are consumed by the concept of time, but when you eliminate that concept, then you begin to sense that you are a product of everything. Celebrate that unity.

Celebrate the peace that you pray for. Celebrate by a recognition that peace, that love is achieved all on the basis of unity, never difference.

Life as you are given it is beautiful. The river has its beauty. All that is contained in the river, all that is beyond the river has its purpose. Be as conscious as you can be of the continuing thread of love that binds all of you and everything everywhere together into a single infinitely small, infinitely large unit.

We bless you with the infinity that you are a part of. We bless you with peace. We bless you with the capability of experiencing and exercising unrestrained love.

Amen.
